Expanded Classes and Art Therapy

Well I have not felt much like knitting and crocheting lately. It’s probably because I have been making so many samples for classes. I have a lot of short deadlines to reach with these projects so I have to knit very fast in a short time frame using specific yarns and specific patterns. It does not feel very creative. I do however, enjoy teaching a great deal. I am amazed at the different people I meet from all walks of life. I especially enjoy the elderly and young children. Last week I taught two children with special needs. My experience with my son’s therapies has prepared me to deal with students with Autism. This is very near and dear to my heart for obvious reasons. It was good also to work with two Mom’s who were more experienced because their kids were older. I got some great advice and insight and it was helpful to be able to talk to some Mom’s who face the same issues. I was also able to teach both children to crochet even though they had difficulty speaking or making eye contact with me. My heart just felt full after working with them. They were such great kids and made me laugh the whole time. We had so much fun together. I never imagined I would love this job so much. It can be very fulfilling. That being said, I am expanding my classes to another location on the East Shore. I will be teaching Fiber Arts at two locations now. I was offered a job at the JoAnn’s by the Giant on 22. If you are interested in taking any of my classes please contact me via e-mail or just call me.

In other artsy news I have been recently contemplating taking up my painting again. I am not very gifted, but I enjoy the process so much. I have some ideas for some Art Therapy to do and have been making preliminary sketches in my mind. I’m working through some very important life lessons I have a lot of ideas on what I want to create. Actually it feels like I need to create it, so I know the timing is right. I do remain very busy though. Finn is in school, I have been taking the kids to the gym a lot lately, and I teach classes and do massages almost every night. I still force myself to go out on Fridays once a week so I am sure to get “socialized” and to get a Mommy break. I guess I can start by sketching first. I have also that  I could even use oil pastels over paint because it is quicker cleanup, Also it is easier to pick up and put down when kid emergencies call. (Which is like every 10 minutes around here.)  If I get anything done I will definitely post it on this blog if I am not embarrassed about quality! The important part to me is the process though, so I try not to be too hard on myself! That’s the update for now.
